What is a reasonable salary for a University teacher in Saudi Arabia?
I have an MA in TESOL,and more than 10 years teaching experience (pre-MA). Any information would be appreciated. |

Rightly or wrongly, most places only give credit for experience gained post-MA, so you will be starting at the low end for an MA holder. I would say you should not accept a starting salary of less than about SR 10,000 a month. |

My question would be 'why Saudi?' With an MA plus experience, you have the option of all the Gulf countries. I would expand my search through the universities of all the countries. The entry level MA pay is pretty much the same. (all the big money jobs in Saudi are for men only) There are not many jobs on offer for women there.
I assumed from your previous posts that you are female and not Muslim. Many Western females find the restrictions on their lives there as a single woman to be unacceptable. I would, although Ms Cleopatra is not bothered in the least.
In your previous posts you mentioned that you are also certified to teach K-12. If all of your experience is at that level, you may want to look into International School Services which has job fairs for overseas schools. The schools which are used by the embassy kids tend to pay very well. Your CV may put you higher on the pay scale there than in the universities.

You have mentioned some of the things that I have actually been thinking about a lot. I am considering other countries other than Saudi Arabia and have also thought about teaching in International schools. I have experience teaching in both universities and international schools, so I suppose I could work in either.
My question is based on the fact that I have just been offered a job in a university in Saudi Arabia and wanted to see how the salary offered compared to a reasonable university salary.
Just out of interest I am in fact a male non muslim teacher. Once again thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it. |

Sorry about that... you don't run into many male K-12 teachers except in HS math and science. You're a rare breed. That's what I get for stereotyping...

Stereotyping does not work for all cases!

In case you didn't notice, he already told us that. Thus you have no need to repeat him.

Because he would have mentioned it in one of his previous posts.
