Mabruk!! Now if they only do the same for ALL the government tertiary institutions.
I assume that this is on base salary, so everyone gets the same amount raise. How much does it come to per month?

I believe it is on the total salary. Great news for the newbies who already started out at higher salaries than everyone else this year. Relatively good news for the old-timers on lower salaries as it probably gets them back up to a respectable wage.
Best wishes to all! |

It's on the total salary. It means that UAEU people like myself will now be earning around Dhs 2.000 less than we would be getting if we'd been working for the HCT for the same number of years (instead of being on around Dhs 5.000 less!) ... We get more holiday, though |

Also, they have done away with the base salary thing...in new contracts, there is no mention of a base salary and extra allowances, just the total salary as a unit. |

That's interesting since the gratuity is based on the total base salary. Can we infer from this that UAEU will end up paying higher end-of-contract gratuities? |

The new contracts base the gratuity on full monthly salary. My contract says that I will get the equivalent of one month's salary for each year of service. Do the older contracts say that they pay the equivalent of the base salary? If so, I would think they would have to alter that now with everyone's contracts, as the new ones say otherwise. It is definitely worth asking about! |

This has something that has changed over time. I recall when HCT changed over to not basing its gratuity on base, but total salary. That gave its package a jump over the others. A year or two later, I heard that ZU had done the same. So, finally UAEU is following suit.
One needs to check the contract on any other institution.
