I worked as a teacher at Maximo Nivel from July 2007 to February 2008. Maximo Nivel is a private English institute located in San Pedro, just outside of San Jose. While there are many English institutes in San Jose, Maximo Nivel is a step above the rest for a number of reasons:

1) Good fixed salary. Maximo Nivel gives you a fixed monthly salary paid to you on the 15th and 30th of every month. This gives teachers a great deal of financial security considering many other institutes pay their teachers based on the number of hours worked.

2) Curriculum, exams, and textbooks are all provided. All teachers are given a curriculum for every class level they teach. While this doesn�t eliminate the need to lesson plan, it is nice to have a specific curriculum so you always know what grammar topics you must teach. Furthermore, all exams are fixed and tied to each level, so you don�t have to create your own quizzes or exams.

3) Good honest management. Maximo Nivel is run by a professional staff always responsive to teacher needs.

4) All classes are located at one place. All English classes take place at the institute so you never have to travel around the city to teach your classes.

5) Great location. Maximo Nivel is located right off the Calle Principal in San Pedro so there are a number of restaurants, supermarkets, laundry mats, internet cafes, and malls nearby. There are many apartments available for rent within a 20 minute walk of the institute.
