As to going to immigration when your own status was also illegal, unh, unh, no way.

Here lies the key to your story and the crux of the advice given so far. If one is wronged in Mexico, there is a legal system in place to help you out. If two parties engage in illegal activities, well, what to do? There's inherent risk to breaking the law.

I disagree with those who say 'well, that's Mexico.' The same sort of thing happens the world over, including the US, the UK, and Canada. You needn't look much further than the 12 million illegal Latino aliens working in agriculture and day labour in the US.

I agree with Guy on this one. If you were legal that's one thing...But you are NOT. Why did you even think about going to INM in the first place? Are you so obsessed with revenge? Come on, stuff happens. Just move on and take it as a lesson learned.

Also, if you choose to work illegally in any country, that carries certain risks. And if something happens you don't have much legal recourse. Employers know this and so do you. I have worked under the table here many times. I never had any real problems except at one school, and even then they paid me most of what they owed me. I knew the risk and I still took it. Its part of the game.
