It seems like the temperature has dropped a couple of degrees and every shop, office, train, gym (you name it!) has turned the heating up to "sauna level".

Does anybody else feel this way?

You put on your winter clothes so as you are comfortable outside but then when you go inside anywhere, it's unbearably hot!

So when you go in a shop or get on a train, you have the choice of completely undressing and carrying all your clothes or sweating profusely. While shopping last Friday, I had to leave the shop three times for fresh air and to cool down.

And in the aerobics studio at Tipness this morning, all the glass and mirrors were steamy!

Do Japanese really feel the cold so much?

Can anyone explain?

... Or is it just me?

you should be thanking someone...they still have the AC on in Hong Kong!!! Everyone is bundled in scraves and 3 jackets because every building is still pumping out freon like nobodies business!!!

During my time in Japan, I found that it was either unbearbaly hot or cold in the wrong season. In the horrible Nova MM center, the damn staff was ALWAYS turning up the heat, when the teachers on the floor were sweltering. Apparently, it is better for us to sweat to death than for them to wear real clothes and PUT ON A SWEATER!!!

yeah our administrator has her kerosene heater on so much it is like a greenhouse in the office. I get all warmed up when I teach so keep the heater on just about the lowest setting I can before we all get hypothermia - I find it keeps sleepy students awake and provides an incentive to be a bit more energetic in class. Nothing worse than having to turn off an old kerosene heater - gas boys gas - an ecstasy of fumbling...

Yes I had the same problem. Hated depatos in the winter. Remember the tank top with fur trim was a nice winter garment for some.
