Well I am looking and thinking. I will give it two more years in Taiwan and learn Chinese. Then I will get certified to teach or pursue another career with possible opportunities abroad. My other two ideas are civil engineering or pharmacy.

Well, how about other forms of engineering? Check out jobs - I think Daily Telegraph is good for engineering - and see what type of engineering jobs regularly get overseas postings. If you can't face the DT, or are abroad, then I'm sure something like Monster or web sites pertaining to countries of interest might give you some idea. Not wanting to put you off civil engineering per se, but wondering if it offers the travel prospects that you seem to be interested in. Even less sure of pharmacy: is there such a shortage that you can compete successfully as a non-native?

But the downside to engineering jobs are that many of them are in the Middle East. I am not sure that I would want to live in the Middle East.
