Hello,

Has anybody on the Singapore Forum ever worked for Melior Educatoion group? I am in the process of applying for a job with them.

If they are slave drivers they can look elsewhere to recruit.

Any genuine replies are most appreciated.

You should answer the below to your self and form your own judgement.


First: Where did you see the advert for this group?

Second: How many times have you seen them advertise?

Third: Have you asked for the names and E-mail addresses for ALL English teachers employed at their establishment?

Fourth: Have you seen their contract?

Fifth: Have you spoken to them about any problem which you see as possibly being problematic?

Sixth: Have you asked for information on class sizes and ages of students? Plus the hours that you are expected to work according to your contract?

Seventh: Have you asked about dress code?

Eighth: Have you asked about the wage and support in the form of accommodation allowance? Is there support (use a highly recommended estate agent) to find suitable accommodation?

Ninth: Is there an escape clause for you to leave with out penalty?

Tenth: Are you on a three month probation period?

I believe that this should give you enough questions to ask and form your own judgement whether or not you want to work for them.

I had a chat over the phone with the GM of Melior last week about a lecturing position later in the year. I asked all the right questions and got great answers...then discovered they are not acredited with the Ministry of Education and I am little concerned about that - is it a worry?
