I put myself in a bit of a predicament by losing my bank card and my alien registration card on my trip to Nagano. Has this happened to anyone in the pass and how do you go about getting it all back? Also how long can I expect to wait? I'm stuck without any money and I have to work tomorrow. Crying or Very sad

Dear me. You'll have to call or go into your bank (ideally the branch at which you opened your account) and tell them what's happened. Take along some ID, your hanko, and proof of address, basically whatever allowed you to open the account, and they should let you have some cash (probably the charge will be slightly higher than using the ATM). The new card will probably take about a week to arrive. As for the ARC, trek to your City Hall (i.e. the one that issued it) and get it replaced ASAP (you don't want to get stopped without it by the police, and I am sure there is a time limit in which you are expected to act).

Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it goes. Would you know if I would need another photo to replace my alien registration card?

You know, I can't remember if they ask for and then keep surplus copies of the small photo that you submitted to get the card, but I doubt it. Chances are that all they now have is a b/w p.copy of the issued card (which is now lost or stolen), so my guess is that you'll need to get new photos done. But by all means give them copies of the old photo, if you still have any and your appearance hasn't changed much, to spare yourself the additional expense.

They should have all the information at your ward office. You'll probably see some file that has all your details whipped out in front of you. But you will need to get a new photograph so make sure you've brushed your hair.

If you can't get everything together quickly then it would be a good idea to go to the police and tell them that you have lost your Alien Registration Card. They will issue you with a piece of paper that says it has been reported lost that you can show to the police if they stop you for any reason later on.

You could also carry your passport around which is acceptable ID if, you get stopped by the police.

Good luck!
