I await the news with baited breath... Shocked

Last week a friend from AD called me and we spoke a couple hours on the phone catching up. She had certainly heard nothing of these rumors, but she was here in the US, not in the UAE at the moment.

But... they do need to stem the flow of people planning to depart because of the exchange issue... and attract more applicants. It is not as though the Emirates can't afford to pay...

Interesting that Sheikh Nahyan is moving on... retiring? The raise rumor becomes repetitious, but this is a new twist.

That's an interesting twist.

There are a couple women that might be qualified for the role.

Qatar has a woman in charge --- doesn't seem to have hurt them.

Arab countries often have women at the top in the Ministries of Education. That has been common for years. Education has always been considered a natural area for them to work.

The director is probably not at the top of the hill from where the excrement begins to roll down. They're usually in the middle. Then the stuff continues to roll down to the lowly language teacher, the buck private in the TEFL army, who's at the bottom of the hill Crying or Very sad

Might not the director merely be passing along the raw sewage?

My colleague says announcements later this week -- possibly next week.

Unless you're a high-end supervisor - wouldn't worry too much.

There will still be students --- and they will still need to learn English.

Sure - there will be a few people picking between aisle and window --- but most of them are reasonably good at the game - and will land a new gig within a few months.

With the problems that they are having getting enough teachers, I don't think many here need lose sleep. They could get rid of half of the supervisory/management staff and no one would notice (except for the drop in time wasting meetings...) Laughing
