| Are there any oldbies that have thought of writing a country guide that coud help out newbies? Answers to basic quesitons like salaries, hours, how to find a job. |

I'd love to do it and publish it on CreateSpace, but to be honest, my knowledge is incomplete. I've often wondered if anyone on this forum would be interested in contributing with their area of speciality, part of the country, case studies etc. I certaintly have the time to edit and compile it and I have a CreateSpace account. So,
a) Anyone interested?

b) What would we do with the profits? |

Just discovered that TedKarma is based in Phucket...so how does that work? Does he have Mexperience? Is it up to date?
I just feel that a "real" book would be good (not an Ebook) and these days, oh so easy. Also we have a goldmine of experienced people on this forum. |

I do agree that I like real books, but shiping and printing costs are high. Now with the internet you can reach everyone. |

I've done a bit of this (about 50 pages) but only to assist Mexican friends who own or do hiring in language schools. Much easier than editing someone else's project.  I've covered things drawing from personal experience, yet I find myself updating it constantly with things as simple as new WIFI locations, budget lunch places, where to find certain comfort foods from home, hotels that permit non-guests to swim in their pools (inexpensive recreation and exercise), etc.
A prepared teacher can make all the difference between success and failure...the only thing is, a teacher doesn't always understand how underprepared he/she may be, until arriving. Culture shock can set in quickly, and it can hit hard. This area is as important to the school hiring, as it is to the teacher they hire, so I considered it an important issue.
I've come across a couple of writers who have researched both destinations and schools, Mexico-wide, for the purpose of publishing, and they say it is a huge project to keep particulars current. I can only imagine. |

Very true, even in a ranch like SLP things have changed a fair bit in the last 6 months. I think it would have to be something updateable. |

I think updating the information, when the original files are on your computer is the same whether it's an ebook or a hard copy. As the book is printed to order, you can upload an updatred version easily. And for the Greenies out there, I believe they use recycled paper. We should be so lucky that so much paper is needed! |
