Thanks Mr Slat.
We may recall that poor doc Faustus was torn limb from limb by the devils. His mortal sin, as I take it, was the sacrificing of the good Old Man in order to gain the the vision of the Hermetic Helen of Troy. A rather good DVD is available with Richard Burton. However, 'tis a little spoilt by some naked bosomed women and a copious foisting of Elizabeth Taylor in the speechless part of Helen. Still, Burton enounces well and there is a very humorous scene in the Vatican.
Omophagia I was unaware of and thanks for that.
Could be seen as bearing upon the Eucharist in some mysterious (neoplatonic?) way. Augustine might have said the fallen angels produced omophagia as a travesty of the divine procession and return of the Neoplatonists.
007: I might term myself a Neo-early-modernist but elements of Neo-classicism could be there also. Perhaps I may be an "unacknowledged legislator" (as Shelley described poets) rather than a "dictator". But as I have not published any of my corpus, I am something of a nobody really (or Nobodaddy as Blake might have said). If the Lord wills it, I hope to produce a volume in this terrene orb.
Your comment on Neo-classicism was helpful in encouraging me to define my poetic identity and in fact triggered the manifestation of the term Neo-early-modernist, a term which has not yet been applied to a living literary school or cultural ethos as far as I am aware.
Once again, Mr Slat, it was refreshing to read your own accomplished piece which also displays elements of the Neo-early-modernism, I believe. It's a shame that there is so much utter dross out there, on websites and the lists of "vanity" publishers, that anything worthy of attention is buried in the deluge.
Regards. |

Dear shadowfax,
"It's a shame that there is so much utter dross out there, on websites and the lists of "vanity" publishers, that anything worthy of attention is buried in the deluge."
I can't dispute that, but let me add that I also believe talent and skill will rise to the top sooner or later. I sincerely hope you'll never get so discouraged by the abundance of dross that you'll abandon your writing.
Regards,
John |

Dear John
The above is not a society, and they do not preserve, they propagate the Wahabism virtue!
They are like a police academy of about 4000 members called the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
I think you and me should setup a society and call it the 'Society for the Propagation of Values and the Preventation of Vampires'
What do you think? |

How can you prevent virginity? You can cure it, but prevention means stopping it happening in the first place. |

Dear Stephen,
"How can you prevent virginity?"
Oh, about as successfully as you can prevent vice.
Regards,
John
P.S. But you're quite right - maybe I should change it to
