Hello All,

I am considering a move to Hsinchu or Taoyuan soon, but can't find any useful information on hostels or budget hotels in those two places. Could anyone who is knows those areas or is currently living there recommend a cheap place to sleep while I get myself oriented? I appreciate your help very much.

Thanks!

Cole

Hi Cole,

I don't believe there any hostels in Hsinchu. There are certainly some third rate hotels. If you end up coming here (to Hsinchu) let me know the area you'd like to be near (train station, bus routes, a particular school) and I'll try to get a couple of names and prices for you.

Hi Cat,

Thank you for replying. Wow! I'm very grateful that you would offer to check something like that. If you could, when and if you have the spare time to do so, that would be fantastic!

I don't mind a third rate hotel, as long as is private with it's own shower and I can safely leave my belongings in the room while I'm out and about looking for work and an apartment. If there is something a tad better than third rate, that might be better. I will be coming without a job, so a hotel near the the bus or train station would be what I need. Whichever area seems more convenient for exploring and re-con of the city. I will follow your recommendation. Let me know.

Thanks again!

Cole

Anyone with info on Taoyuan?

When I was looking for work in Taoyuan along time ago, I stayed at my apartment in Taipei while commuting to Taoyuan for a month. If you can't find anything decent in Taoyuan it's a temporary option to use a hostal in Taipei and take the train to Taoyuan. Also possible for Hsinchu if you're young but a tad more stamina needed...

there's a hotel by the train station at 700NT a night. Everything you need.
there's another one not far from there by the river at 600 a night.
Some even have long-term specials.
