So I went out to downtown BKK for a beer last Saturday only to find out that no bars can sell booze because of the elections. The few places that were open had to sell beer in speak-easy style coffee mugs so as not to anger the local fuzz.
People tell me that the election isn't until the FOLLOWING weekend, and that the bars will be shut down again.
What gives? No alcohol a whole week before an election is to take place? This is crazy! |

| No "bihn" under the bar, low lights, and music off, like Pattaya? Next thing you know, they'll be invading formerly friendly countries they used to arm and making you take off your shoes at the airport. Glad I'm not there right now! |

| They need these laws during election time to keep the uneducated hicks from selling their votes, or getting drunk and making poor decisions. However, they just elected Samak Sundaravej as PM so apparantely these laws aren't working! |
