This was despite the fact that the person was still living and working in the city and the ex-employer knew exactly where this person lived. The civil case is ongoing and all will be revealed about this obnoxious owner when it has been settled. |
I'm waiting to hear how the person got a job from a new employer... and theoretically a proper visa... when his first employer seemed to not have released him??

VS,
All in good time VS, all in good time.
All the facts will be posted as a warning to others about this "employer" as soon as the case is over. Everything is legal and above board, the Immigration and Ministry authorities have expressed no interest in the person. The new employment is legal.

OK... I will await the rest of the story. I hope you manage to report it... umm... carefully so that it doesn't get pulled.

Got the video and the T shirt VS, names will be "unamed" but the information will leave readers in no doubt as to who this person and to which company is involved,
In fact, when the case is decided in our favour, in Omani law there will be nothing to stop us naming names.
But Dave's rules are applicable here on this forum. Of course, that will not stop anyone PM'ing or emailing us for those details
when we win the case!!

Just kinda going back to the original post......I also work in Sohar and in the 3 years I've been here the terminations at the college are the only ones any of us have heard about and everyone was shocked....because lets face it.....it is virtually impossible to get fired!! I don't work at the college, but I know a lot of people who do and I know the people who were terminated. In my limited knowledge, I don't think it was completely unjustified. |

Several persons have quite rightly commented on "emegerncy leave. It is usual for the employee to contact the employer, outline the situation, and request (not demand) leave. In almost all cases the leave is granted. At Soharollege recently we had an employee with a serious family illness outside of Oman, and was granted leave with no questions. I myself was in a similar situation four years ago, not in Oman. I spoke with the director whoctually helped me get to the airport, and emailed me to say that I could take all the time I needed. Treat people right and they will treat you right. Mr Majali had every right to proceed as he did. It amazes me that some people feel they deserve special treatment. You get what you pay for. |
