Well, I've been accepted as a Westgate "professor" Smile for the Spring season. Will arrive in Tokyo on May 1st.

Anyone else starting with Westgate then? And do you know where you've been placed yet? I've no idea where they're sticking me.

Anyway, paid flights and a one year visa. Happy days.

Professor pcorbett,

Maybe I'll see you there!
Don't yet know which university I'll be at.

Regards,

Prof. Miyazaki

I'm also Westgate-ing in May. Am currently meandering through the e-training. The 'professor' post made me giggle. In China I think I was a 'professor' according to my foreign expert card. Here in Russia I'm just a giant hamster on a giant wheel. Japan will be interesting...

Hi fellas...

Have fun in Japan....

Was just wondering..someone said that they didn't know where they were gonna be....

Yeah..when do they get around to telling you that info?

And did they offer you any choice of location whatsoever - or even ask about preferences?

thanks...

Bule Boy,

They let you know your provisional assignment and apartment location one month before your contract starts. You can list your top 3 locations and they ask you if you'd prefer a big city or the inaka. I think they try their best to please everyone. I was happy with my assignment. Job in Tokyo and a gaff out in Chiba. The commute shouldn't be too bad.

Just got my provisional assignment. Gonna be living in Fujisawa (any info anyone?) Can't find either my address or my school on a map but what the hell, I'm sure it'll all become clear when I land. Starting to get psyched now..!

Hello! I also begin May 1st. My provisional assignment was Nagoya, but I have requested they try to place me in Tokyo, though I may have to settle for some nearby prefecture. It will be my first TEFL assignment, and my first time in Japan. I am going to have culture shock up the ass, and I've been doing a wonderful job of not thinking about the fact I'll be living abroad in just two weeks.

Fujisawa is south of Yokohama. A nice beach town.
