Hi,
I have been researching places to volunteer for free in peru and have found a great website: http://www.volunteersouthamerica.net/
On this website, I found an organization called Traveller Not Tourist. Has anyone heard of them?
They provide: tours and help volunteers coordinate work through an orphanage called, Casa Hogar Luz Alba, and through a community project with Villa Chachani. They sound great because they do not charge volunteers fees and they will rent volunteers a shared flat during their stay (and coordinate Spanish classes through Bringham Young).
I was also considering staying in a hostel for a month while volunteering in a project or through a school teaching. I'd love to teach English or work on a sustainable development project. Any recommended hostels or volunteer spots?
Thanks! |

I have had some dealings with the guys at Traveller Not Tourist,
I didn't volunteer, but I think its a sound organisation.
You may have seen the comments from past volunteers on the TNT website:
www.travellernottourist.com
The comment from Monika certainly is genuine,
I was in touch with her in London before she left for Peru, and
she wrote to me also endorsing the organisation.
I have no reason to doubt the other testimonies on the site either.

I volunteered with TNT for about 4 weeks. I had a pretty good experience with them. I worked in Villa Chachani. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
