6+ yrs in ESL. BA in chinese. thinking about crossing the pond from korea.
where, in your opinion, is the "hottest" spot for ESL these days wewre a laowai with passable chinese can make some bank? |

Having said that, isn't the pay in HK quite piss-poor if we're just talking normal ESL (rather than jobs for qualified teachers)? |

I have two friends teaching ESL in HK. Both are earning 3-4 times as much as their counterparts in GZ, although in truth the HK guys work a few more hours per week.
HK is crowded and polluted but is so-o-o-o much more civilised than upriver. |

A 30 minute ferry ride to Macau will get you as much sleaze as you want, if that's what floats your boat. You don't even need to change currency from HK. |

yeah, i've been to HK many times. back before it was handed back it was nice and still is. but not really a boomtown in comparison to other cities in greater china. |

yeah, i wasn't really asking about sleaze but it is usually an interesting topic.
no shortage of sleaze anywhere i have ever been except kemper military college in booneville, misery, USA. |
