|
|
Hi everyone- I've been reading back through the forum pages. I've seen quotes for rent from 1500 to 2500 pesos for a single, or a share. Nothing fancy. But what I am seeing out there for a share, is running around $350 dollars a month. I'm talking Mexico City.
Any thoughts? |

I've been scouring the ads over the last week or so and having a hard time right now coming up with a private spot for under 3500, furnished, of course. For shared, 1200-2500 is easy.
Where are you looking? |

Hi Guy,
For example, on craigslist (Mexico City) today there is a roommate listing in the area of Naopoles, near the World Trade Center. ? it doesn't include utilities and it's not furnished. 2800 a month. |

I've often found that Craig's list is geared towards 'executive' suites, but 2800 is a pretty good price for that upscale area. Unfurnished isn't what you need though, is it?
Check segundamano.com.mx for listings. It can be a bit confusing to use the site since it's broken down first by delegaccion (something like a burrough in NYC), then by colonia. Delegacciones Benito Juarez, Alvaro Obregon, Cuauhtemoc, and Gustavo A. Madero include most of the colonias I'd mentioned earlier to you. |

Is that in American Dollars, or Mexican Pesos?
If that is dollars, run!
I agree with Guys comment about craigslist. It must be greared towards
Americans who are not coming here to teach, because the prices I have seen are always quite hefty. |

I have found the best way to find a place in Mexico is to ask friends if they know of anything for rent. Mexicans will usually know what's a good price and a decent area to live, unless of course they are from Ciudad Neza, Tepito, or Iztapalapa
My wife and I are paying $2,500 MXN for a one bedroom apartment just north of DF in Mexico State. It's a very nice, quiet and upper class area. We are renting from a friend from church. |

Dixie that's in pesos. No way dollars!
Actually today I found a website, easyroommates.com, I believe, that has a Mexico City section. I signed up. They list the neighborhoods you mentioned, Guy.
2500 for a one bedroom, furnished for you and your wife. Sounds great. Unfortunately, I have no connections in Mexico (except for a friend who has a boat in Cabo, which doesn't do me any good!) Once I'm there for a bit, that will change. |
