I'm a little desperate to get some information about Kuwait's schools. Let me tell you about my self I'm a teacher for fairfax county public school with a degree in BA and a certification of Foreign Language Teacher K-12 (Spanish) from the University of NC I been teaching for 12 years 10 in Spanish (High School) My first 2 years I taught ESL elementary Level. I also have a MA in Spanish Literature from Queen's University. I'm Puertorrican but married to an American Live in US for over 22 years)that. My mother tongue is Spanish but I can speak very well English of course with a little bit of accent. My Husband is in the military and we are going to be deployed to Kuwait in the summer. I'm going to be there for 2 years, I'm very exited but at the same time very nervous after reading a lot of the reviews of some of the teachers there. I love to teach is my passion and I would like to do it there, do you think would I have a possibility in Spanish or I have to do it in English I'm not going to need any of the living area because the military would provide that. I also have 2 children's 16 and 11 which school do you recommend I know a lot of the Kids from the embassy go to ASK which one have the most american kids my daughter is very worry about this. Do you know if this school also help students wit IEP's my son have one in reading and writing. Thanks for any help

Janyrica, do you know how to access the PMs? You should be able to read them, but sometimes new members are not able to answer them. If you can not answer, bring any further questions down here.

Schooling is VERY expensive. Is the military covering the costs? If they are not, your husband's military salary may not cover the tuition. Your 16 year old will need some education on cultural differences between the US and the Middle East. I don't know whether this is your son or daughter, but there are major issues here for the age group.

On this board IEP normally mean Intensive English Program for non-native speakers of English. Is that what you mean?

Somehow from the context, I think the OP is talking about an Individualized Education Program (IEP) which in the United States is mandated by the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act).

This is an individualized educational plan which is designed to meet the unique needs of one child. It must be tailored to the individual student's needs. It must be a truly individualised document.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Is there anywhere in Kuwait that could cope with this?

many private schools accomodate existing or test for and produce IEPS

TEFLers , mostly, haven't a clue about this - certified teachers, on the other hand, in the USA are taught this in their education and usually have 'main streamed' IEP students in their student teaching term or year
