I've never lived in Wenzhou, but a friend did. There is a small ex-pat community.
Wenzhou itself is a very wealthy city, very business orientated with a lot of overseas links. However, it's also isolated in the the mountainous south of Zhejiang province. Basically, it's a long way from anywhere else unless you fly. Partly as a result of this, the local dialect is nothing like standard Mandarin Chinese.
I don't imagine life there would be too hard, but at the same time it's not top of the list for culture, scenery or nightlife either. |
