I started a thread about English Unlimited before but it seems to have disappeared.I was just wondering how my old "friends" were getting on in the school |

I think the thread was removed because the 'teachers' concerned were alleged to be, how shall I put this, 'less than model professionals'.
I don't know the school and don't care, but it sounds like the 'teachers' involved had shortcomings themselves and the thread was correctly deleted.
Look at youself before slagging schools. |

You are both factually incorrect and contradict yourself in your comments. In the previous thread now deleted, there was no comment implied or otherwise about the teachers at the school teaching abilities. So to state this is a falsehood.
Secondly, if as you state that you dont know the school or how it operates, how then are you in a position to judge my criticisms of it?
Also how then are you also able to question me when you dont even know me supposedly?
It is quite obvious from your remarks that you have a vested interest in the school either as a current teacher or as part of the management or director team.
So dont try to hoodwink others about your impartiality from English Unlimited.
One of the main purposes of this forum is to inform other teachers about schools, their good and bad points. The last thread was deleted because English Unlimited is a big concern in Poland and didn't want any negative publicity.Plain and simple. |

I am amused by your placement of inverted commas around "teachers" when you allege you know nothing about the school.
Are you implying that there are not qualified teachers? Have you access to their qualifications or CV's or something? Or have you access to their observation reports perhaps? Perhaps, you carried out these observations.
It was really easy to pluck holes in your remarks and question their integrity.
I would respectfully suggest for you to put more thought into your contributions before posting |

Yes there was. But it wasn't up for long because I clicked the report button and so a moderator saw the offending comments quickly.

More like it was deleted because somebody who claimed to be from EU made clearly libelous comments about one of the former teachers and so ESLcafe could have been sued as well. Unfortunately the whole thread was deleted rather than the offending comments only being removed.
I rather fancy that the comments were made deliberately to have the thread deleted: I don't believe anybody from EU would be stupid enough to open the school up for legal action by libelling a former teacher. |

There was absolutely nothing in the previous thread about English Unlimited that would constitute libel against any individual. There is a lot of scaremongering being put forward on this issue.
There appears to be vested interests in the school coming to its defence which is quite amusing. The bottom line is that the school is managed and run unprofessionally with a high rate of staff turnover leeaving the students with no continuity and in the dark when they are presented with a new teacher. These are facts, not rumour and I would like someone to refute this. |

Intriguing. I can't remember any libelous comments being made.
I don't want to get involved in this argument though. I'm glad to be rid of EU, but that's just my personal opinion/experience. Some teachers have had long and happy careers there, others quite the opposite! There is something 'in the air' there at the moment, though, and I agree that the high turnover of is ridiculous. And I can state categorically that this is NOT because they are "less than model professionals". Some have been just that but have been forced out for no apprent reason other than their face doesn't fit.
Anyway, please let this be an end to it all. Lucky are the TEFLers who have no bad experiences in their career. Accept it and move on. |

Yes there was. Somebody accused one of the former teachers of having a drinking problem and that somebody had absolutely no proof whatsoever to support their baseless accusation. Various newspapers have been sued for saying that a particular person was drunk at a certain time (hence the phrase "tired and emotional" being used as replacement for the word "drunk"). If accusing somebody of being drunk in public on a single occasion is actionable, accusing somebody of having an alcohol habit which prevents the person from carrying out their professional duties is going to be an open-and-shut case. |

Ah, I stand corrected. I didn't see that particular post. TEFL teacher with a drink problem? Never!
Ironically, the post could have been about me! I heard a rumour that one of the students said I was drunk or hungover in a lesson. However, the (slight) shaking and sweating was due to a sudden attack of 'first lesson nerves' - I always find them nerve-wracking. I'm no angel but I learnt early on that hangovers and teaching don't mix! |
