They're "preliminarily considering" me for Turkey. Hopefully I will hear soon if they're going to choose me or not.

I would love to hear from more people who did this program, if possible.

They've matched me with a public speaking position in Burma. The next step is the people in Burma review the files that they receive--up to 4, I think.

I would love to go to Burma. What city would you be placed in? Make sure you don't say something that will get you kicked out of Burma.

I've accepted my ELF offer. I'm wondering if anyone can give me information on what the living allowance they offer you is like. I mean, how generous/stingy are they with it? It would be nice to get an idea of the standard of living that they expect you to live by.

Thanks!

csfek,

Congrats! I've no idea about the living allowance (are you an RPCV?) but it should be more than adequate, no?

Cool, did you pick Turkey or did they choose it for you? I'm hoping to be in your shoes in a few years time (hopefully an ELF in East Asia).

Good luck with it all and do good work!

Regards,
fat_chris

Very Happy
They pick the post for you. I think they try to match you with the post that most suits your qualifications. You give them your preferences, but I don't know how much they take them into consideration.

Thanks for the good wishes!

I think that if you keep your preference open, you'll have a better chance of being placed quickly.

I've just accepted a post in Honduras - I am super excited.

Will I be seeing anyone else in DC in August for the training?

I was searching the web for past ELF websites- they're really interesting to read!- and came across this thread...

I'll be heading to DC for the orientation in August, then on to Indonesia, so I'll see you there Squindia! I didn't have any strong preference of where I wanted to go other than Russia, but I really wasn't a good fit for the projects there, so didn't mind that I didn't get it.

I'm really looking forward to the next year- I think it's going to be a great experience!!
