lol 33 is too old to spend an all nighter out on the town!?!? i've partied w/ plenty of 30 somethings in Tokyo, u must've grown up quick!
anyways to answer the OPs question, in Tokyo its common to take the last train downtown and arrive there at midnight, stay out 4-5 hours partying it up, and then take the first train home at 5am. No biggie... assuming you're under 33.;)lol |

| don't know if it's true or not, but i've heard that trains stop at night give people an excuse go home. that way you don't have to work till 2 am or if you out with work mates you can leave. |

| Interesting theory, VS, I'm sure that is at least the effect if not the cause of the lack of night trains. I don't recall there being many groups of drunk businessmen or work colleagues staggering around much after the last trains, it was more groups of what appeared to be friends in civvies who actually all wanted to spend a night on the tiles. But that is only really Mon-Fri, almost EVERYONE seems to turn into a party animal come Saturday night. |

| If you're out passed 12 then you're committed to where you are. Just gotta make due, alot of people stay in the bars/clubs until 5 when the place closes and trains start running.. especially if it has dj's. I met these people at this one club and after the place closed we all ended up going to breakfast and went to sing karaoke then going to Yoyogi park afterwards. So yeah, you won't be too bored until 5 if you find the right people. Everyone else is right about the internet cafe's too.. Internet, Tv, ps2, and unlimited coffee and dvd's on a comfy leather recliner.. 3000 yen for 10 hours. |

I agree! My sempai was 32 and he used to take all us brats out all the time. Granted, he wasn't as sloppy as the 20-year-olds, but he had a good time.
I never stayed out too late past 12, but a couple guys did, and they ended up walking around, drinking in parks, and most recently, they rented out rooms in a capsule hotel, although you can only stay there for 10 hours. |

I saw pictures of those capsule rooms...I think I would die from the claustrophobia attack.
But then again...I aint payin' 100 dollars to take a taxi back home!

Amani, you can't stay in a capsule hotel if you are female (I assume from your avatar). Male only.
Manga kissa have cheap overnight rates. I've stayed in the Mambo manga and internet cafe near Shibuya Station for Y2000. The booth was big enough for me and my friend to crash out, and it was quiet. The other guests were all doing the same.
Thank goodness the trains stop shortly after midnight! If the trains were running all night on a Saturday, I wouldn't get any sleep. My neighbours would be coming and going all night, and there is enough barf to negotiate around on the sidewalks. |

There are capsule hotels that allow women too, although they are really rare. My girlfriends just went to one. Same rules, except the two sections were separated, and there was a strict rule about not going into the other areas.

I want to go to one of these. I've never had the experience! |
