Hi there!
Here's a question that has been bothering me and my buddies for yonks now. Any help will be welcome. Basically, anybody in Moscow must have been to Boarhouse/Chesterfield's, or Hotdogs as it is now known. Question: who is that guy that is like always there? You know the fella, baseball cap, curly hair, round glasses, beard, German-looking. We have a bet that he works there as an undercover cop! Any other info out there? Been wondering for years now |

Started by a Canadian called Doug Steele,it once had a reputation as a place where you could drink and eat for a reasonable price and even pick-up a 'businesswoman' if you were that way inclined without paying 'Nightfly' rates etc! However,it's reputation tumbled a few years ago,Doug left and I think it was even due to close down at one time!
I went there for lunch a couple of times during the day and it was just a pub with wooden tables and very quiet where you could sit and talk without any hassle-nothing special but by no means the worse! But I gather that after 10 p.m. it was another story, just like the Hungry Duck at Kuznetskiy Most some years ago,but even that is apparently very sedate nowadays!I would recommend the Exile.ru site for up to date info. on 'out and about' Moscow. |

Sashadroogie - I very rarely go to that place but I think I know exactly who you mean. Certainly he's there whenever I've been in and by the looks of it he seems to be well-acquainted with a number of the girls.
He certainly doesn't look very well-heeled so I can't imagine what his connection is.
What's the new HotDogs like? Has the place changed much? |

I went there for lunch and drinks in the afternoon - seemed alright to me. However, we didn't stay for the evening so I can't comment on the "after 10pm" scene
Where I've taught in the past there have always been a few bars that were popular with the teaching crowd - it was always to go there get to know teachers from other schools etc. Is Boarhouse / HotDogs popular with teachers?
Can anyone suggest other bars that are popular with teachers?
Cheers! |

I went there Saturday mid-afternoon and it had about ten different different patron parties, but only one waitress. After waiting 10 minutes without being approached by her, I left the premises. In times past there would have been two or three waitresses. |
