Here's a fun topic for conversation class or a lesson on urban legends:
Growing up in Utah was very boring so sometimes as a teenager we would go cow tipping. You sneak up on a cow sleeping standing up and tip it over for fun.
Here's a link to a Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cow_tipping
There is, however, a legitimate veterinary reason to tip cows:
http://www.vnews.com/cowtipping/
I used these two in a TOEFL prep class to practice speaking contrasting the urban legend to the veterinary reason.
I actually tried this once in the 60's with a friend but the cow ran away just as we were getting ready to tip it over (notice that this occurred during the 60's)

when i moved into the country i was informed by locals that cow tipping was a mean joke played on new people, since you generally just end up with an angry and still up right cow on your hands. |

My uncle had a cow fall onto its side in a creek one. (He had 75 dairy cows) because the cow was in the creek bed, there was no way to get the fork lift in there to get it right-side up and he had to put the cow down. Cow tipping is how a Holstien can become 750 lbs of ground beef. (Holstiens do not make good steaks). |

Cow tipping is quite real. You just have to hit 'em hard. 'Snipe hunting', on the other hand, is a mean joke played played on new people. You take them deep in the woods and tell them to wait with the bag for you to return with the 'snipe'.
You don't ever return. |

I recall a very funny episode of "Cheers" in which Frasier bore the brunt of a snipe hunt prank. |

well, in this case they were talking about cow tipping, since most people don't hit the cows quite hard enough. actually, i have never heard of any one person doing it. |
