Since January 1, 2008, I have been keeping track of the money I spend everyday, accurate down to SR. 0.50. Everyday when I come home, I enter the amounts into various categories, such as taxis, gorceries, restaurants, etc., into MS Excel.
I intend to present my research here at the end of May. |
Trapezius, we are now at the end of May.
Any results about your research into your spending & savings in the magic kingdom?
Uncle Scott is anxious for your research to be published so that he could compare his with yours! |

Haha... I was going to make a thread about this in a few days! Now, I don't have to. Thanks.
May 31st is Saturday. Once I enter my spending for that day into Excel, I will post my stats here. The data will be for 5 months. But, I will keep entering my daily expenses into Excel till December 31 of this year, and then I can post again.
See you in 4-5 days! |

Well of course this will be of great interest to the misers, skinflints and tightwads in our midst. Of such there are many. |

I don't know why you keep on saying that and assuming I am a miser, scot. You know nothing about me, and yet you assume I am a miser.
That's not nice.
I am definitely not a miser. I would say my monthly expenditures run 60-70% of the way into the range of expenditures that are usually expressed here, so I am somewhere in the middle, where most of the users probably are.
scot, repent before you die. |

Well, I think Uncle Scott did not mean that you are a miser!
Uncle Scott meant that your research results will be a reference point for the misers and skinflints of the magic kingdom!! So that they might adjust/correct their living style if they are offset from your reference point! Correct Uncle Scott?
Well, trapeziu, we still waiting for your research! |

Well if that's what he meant, then my apologies.
Check back on Saturday night, or Sunday afternoon!

007, if all the men are Uncles, could you refer to Cleopatra and me as Aunts? |

In Korea, there was a teacher making $2400 u.s. a month, who managed to save $2000 u.s. a month, or more. He had free apartment, and could eat at least one meal at school each day. He still ate out several times a week and went drinking. Eating out in Korea is pretty cheap, with meals starting at around $4 u.s. or around there. You can eat well for $7 u.s. and feel full for the entire day.
He was the teacher I knew who saved the most, but others might beat that.
In Korea, most teachers saved approx. 50% of their salary if they lived modestly. The average savings in Korea are around $1000 u.s. a month for average jobs. Heating and air con can be expensive in Korea, and teachers have to pay for those.
I saved $20,000 u.s. in one year in Korea, which went straight into my retirement fund. It was a good gig, and included trips to Japan (twice) and Indonesia (once). I am hoping that Saudi will prove as lucrative.

trapezius, today is 31st of May, it is the day of judgement of the misers and skinflints of the magic kingdom. And they are waiting for the statistical results of your spending/saving!
His Excellency Uncle Scot is waiting with impatience and is holding his RED pen for his critical comments, so be careful for what you will publish! |
