This is probably a rather sill question but I wondered if anyone has experience of this. My parents' neighbours have asked me to bring them some wasabi when I visit home (the UK) later this month. They want the paste in a tube thing, not the actual root. I think this is legal, but I worried that it might be the sort of thing that gets drug sniffer dogs barking, which would not be a great way to arrive in Britain or leave Japan. Has anyone safely taken wasabi across international frontiers before?

You won't have any issues taking it out of Japan, but you will need to check the UK customs rules to find out if it legal to bring it in. My feeling is yes, you will be fine, but have a look at a UK customs website or phone them if you want completely accurate information.

I brought wasabi from Japan to the UK and there was no problem at all.

most important is that you smuggle it back in your anal cavity. just grab tubes and tubes of the stuff, as much as you can use, and squeeze it up there.

re-tube it in some tupperware upon arrival. you'll be fine.
