Let's face it, everything you can do in Saudi you can do here. What's more, it's safe. The people here are extremely friendly, from the bloke who sells you fruit and veg to the people you work with. I also have a great deal of autonomy in the work place and good relations with my Libyan colleagues.

I have to agree with biffinbridge, that Libya is much better place to work than the magic kingdom if you can get the same salary, especially regarding the work environment and people. You do not feel the hidden discrimination at work as in the magic kingdom.

I've heard it's still hard for Americans to get work visas here though. So, for all us Brits there's that bonus too:))

Well, after the visit of Uncle Blair to Colonel Gadafi in his magic tent, now everything is easy for the Brits in the desert of Libya!

BTW, biffinbridge, is the Colonel still dreaming about setting-up a United Sates of Africa to counter-balance the USA? Laughing

The big thing for me though is that the students want to learn and the bosses expect me to fail poor students..ie I can do my job ethically

That is all one can ask for as a teacher. And that is the reason SA will be always be a horrible place to teach [locals]. Well, at least for the next 100 years or so.

I wonder if Trap's extreme bitterness about his personal situation manifests itself in the classroom?

I'd find it hard to imagine that it could not.

True or not, what possible goal could you have in asking this? What possible difference could this make to you?

Well, I just thought I'd like to give our resident do-gooder the chance to get all self-righteous and preachy.

That is all.
