I'm currently in Korea and am thinking about making a switch to Japan from September onwards...The hogwon job I'm at now has too many Kindgarten and young learner classes for my liking...
...On foot how easy would it be to find a job around Osaka or Tokyo or would it be better to search on the net? A budget of around $2000 enough if i go on foot? Would I be able to find adult classes instead of kids classes in Japan?
Thanks in advance... |

Bad time, not enough money, kids come with the territory. |

Well, I think most places recommend coming with $2000-3000 when you have a job lined up to tide you over until your first paycheck comes. I would recommend scouting the web if that's all you have to start with.
The next "wave" of teaching usually starts Mid-Aug/Sept, but a lot of those may be filled already. |

The best time is not April itself because that is the month when contracts start (and so does the fiscal year and academic year). Late Feb and all of March are the peak times, but if you are looking for something like university work or direct hire in mainstream schools, think 6 months earlier. International schools usually operate on the same academic year as they do back home, so that means they start in Aug or Sept, and you should figure 6 months back from that (or consult an international fair recruiter). |
