Hello - I am considering a school called Suzhou Foreign Language School. I did a search on Dave's and saw some negative comments on Suzhou International Foreign Language School. However, I have verified that this is a different school. It is located in Suzhou New District. If anyone can comment on the school or the area (the district in particular) I would be grateful. It will be my first teaching job in China. I have found Dave's board such a great resource and appreciate any comments!
Thanks! Amber

I did a yahoo search and found some negative comments on www.teflwatch.org although the ones who wrote those comments dont appear to be the most literate teachers I have come across. I also noticed this comment on the schools own website:

Quote:
Having started with the compiling of The Practical Pocket Dictionary for Bilingual Teaching, are probing the methods of bilingual teaching by practical experiments and pursuing remarkable achievements.

That is quite a mouthful but here is my favorite comment taken from dayoo.com:

Quote:
Suzhou Foreign Language School has been kept in the public's focus recently since it announced that an art course would be offered to turn young kids into ladies.

That is quite an amazing feat, particularly with the boys! It sure beats surgery in Thailand. Anyway, try to get email addresses of current and former teachers from the school although they will probably omit the most disgruntled teachers. Good luck, Amber!

You may wish to send a PM to a poster around here by the name of Kev61 or something like that. He lives right in Suzhou.

I am close to Suzhou, am aware of the school but would prefer not to comment in an open forum. Any questions, PM me. Otherwise, my suggestion --- pass on this one.

So Wamber, did you ever go? If not I have checked here and also on TELFWatch. I would like any additional input if anyone has something to offer. I would be grateful for anything further. Thxs!
