Ello folks...
has anybody here got their work visa while travelling (especially in Southeast Asia)?
I have phoned the Japanese consulates in Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur. Jakarta said they don't issue one for non residents and KL said something on the lines of.....
'yes we can..no we cant, can can lah'.
I wanna do some travelling before I go to Japan and start work in September, but i dont think I can get the COE before i wanna leave.
Cheers guys |

If strangely somehow your travels went through South Korea, they can do it VERY EASILY there.
I was in Manila earlier this year trying to process my work visa for Japan, and it was a very lengthy difficult process. Basically, in Manila, because so many Filipinos want to live and work in Japan, they made a policy that ANYONE applying for a work visa for Japan in the Philippines has a very long, lengthy hassle to do so, even westererns for ESL teaching. |

I tried doing through the Japanese embassy in Guatemala, and was not successful.
Like Tiger Beer wrote, the Japanese consulate in Seoul can do it, provided that you have all your paperwork in order. I received my first work visa there, back in 2003, and it took a couple of days. |

Thanks for your postings fellas...
Unfortunately, I was in Seoul earlier this year and have not intention of returning.
I guess I should have asked "Has anyone got their Japanese work visa issued while travelling in Southeast Asia?'. |

Thanks...
Does anyone know what it costs to get a Japanese work (in my case a 'Professor' visa) issued in Bangkok/KL anywhere outside Japan?
I'm sure it's affordable but I don't want any nasty suprises. |
