| In 1972, East China Normal University was renamed Shanghai Normal University, when it merged Shanghai Teachers Institute, Shanghai Education Institute, Shanghai Physical Education Institute, and Shanghai in-Service Teachers Institute. In 1978, the four institutes detached and resume their original status'. In July 1980, the University resumed its original name. |
Just one more comment, Sean. As the article says "four institutes detached and resumed their original status". So the original teachers institute became Shanghai Teachers College and was renamed Shanghai Teachers University in 1984. It combined with Shanghai Teachers College of Technology in October 1994 to form a new Shanghai Normal University. The above is from SNU's website. So now there is a Shanghai Normal University and an East China Normal University, also in Shanghai. |

Yes, good stuff for understanding the Chinese uni system. I have heard good things about SHanghai Normal.
Beware. Teaching colleges in every province are usually called Normal, and often have the poor(money) students who plan on going into teaching, ie lots of girls, and lots of poor students (in english ability)
Anyways, back on thread, Today, I saw Zhengzhou Excellent Foreign Language School. (Honest)
Does anyone know how good it is? How it compares to ShangHao Outstanding School? |
