joy is a nationwide chain of schools. each branch is independently owned/operated. they have standardized lesson plans and lots of support manuals. it would be best if you found out which branch in which city you were dealing with and inquire specifically about that location.

Joy schools are really nothing more than a name and teaching materials. They have no control or knowledge about the schools they sell their name to. Many schools that get a bad reputation buy a franchise from this organization to try to Change their image. Same boss, same school now a Joy school.
Research the address of the school as names change pretty fast. I have known some people that have done really well there and others that cannot say the name without interjecting colorful metaphors.

Most Joys are franchises. I've had very good experience with them. It mostly depends on your boss and your attitude to work.

Show up on time, sober, be a non-whining employee and with a coherent plan on what you're going to teach. This will most often be given to you by your Chinese co-teacher.
That should make you a decent employee.

Expect your employer to pay you on time and handle the legal papers, if they come with the job.

It's that simple with Joy. You have to have some imagination though for the books. As they are, they can be quite boring and seem like very little material for a long time. But in actuality there is a lot there for the students to learn.
