Hi,

I was wondering if any longtime Warsaw residents could provide a recent list of the best schools to work for, or at least the ones to avoid...? I'm getting a CELTA in July and would be looking to move to Poland in early Sept.

Thanks!

They're all crap. That isn't said lightly, but through experience. Unless you are a hardened masochist, don't bother with Warsaw...or Poland, for that matter.

Seeing as Bell are currently paying experienced teachers less than 1000zl per week for 24 real hours, we can cross them off any list of places you'd want to work.

My suggestions (in no kind of order and entirely non-exclusive):
ACT
Lang
Resource
WSC
Ability
L2
Extreme
Mike Mills

(I've worked for all the above except one and can recommend them all, then and now).

I think as long as you dont go to Lingua Nova, you will be quite safe!!
Ask some teachers in other schools when you come here about
the staff and how well are things taken care of, how many classes
do they have, etc. The schools here will always try to negotiate
gross (brutto) wages here, I found out if you do it in net (netto),
they are much more willing to pay you the rate!! Make them pay
you cash and no bank transfers because they can sometimes be
late. By law they dont have to pay you until 12 days after they
receive your files. All the other schools are good from my friends
experiences with them!!
