Ajarn, since you have previous international experience, I've decided not to sent my information control agents to confiscate the book and flog you.

As for you ESL Master, my commander of operations reports having a lead on your location. Be forwarned.

I thought it was only me. I read the section of the book dedicated to Kyoto.
I have been asked time and again by both japanese and non-Japanese here in japan if I like Kyoto or if I have been to kyoto etc etc.
When I tell them that I have been there and I am not particularly interested in it I get a "Really!!?? Why!!??"

There is nothing particularly interesting about that city after you have seen the temples and done the usual sightseeing run. That's just my opinion.
So over the years I have had to deal with the "Really!!?? Why!!??" from Both Japanese and Foreigners here.

Not to mention Kobe. That's another "Really!!?? Why!!??" opportunity for them.

Kobe would get votes as a place to live. There is nothing terribly compelling to bring people to visit there.

Kyoto is a place to visit if you're interested in traditional Japan; buildings, arts, etc. It is also a much prettier city than Tokyo IMO, for example and it's easy to leave the city and enjoy the woods in the same day.
