| Having worked in five Middle Eastern countries and lived in a further two, I'd vote for Egypt, with Lebanon and Syria joint second (for the reasons mentioned above). |

I would recommend Libya - unspoilt by the West and tourism, motivated students, strong identity and culture and friendly people. |

Before you go to the Jamahariyah, I suggest a bit of background reading. Look especially at her case of the Bulgarian and Palestinian Medics sentenced to death for "delibrately spreading AIDS".

Well, Uncle Scot, if you or your child get AIDS because of a mistake from your doctor, don't you take him to court? 
The Bulgarians and the Palestinian were released later in Bulgaria for an an arms trade as well as a civilian nuclear cooperation agreement between France, Bulgaria, and Colonel Gadafi !!!! |

| Rumors from the mouth of a Libyan friend say that the Bulgarians were framed by the Jamhouria and that the AIDS was a punishment on a rebellious province. It would not be the first time that a government used chemical and/or biological weapons on its own people. |

of course i'm naive, why do u think i'm on this board asking questions? do wise people ask questions, no, they give wisdom. if i had wisdom about the ME then i wouldnt be asking questions. and of course i need to do research, what do you think i'm doing on this board?!
i know what i want, and i stated it. and i'm trying to match that against opportunities in the areas i'm interested in, but with people like you who choose to criticize legitimate inquiries rather than giving any answers makes doing research difficult. so the next time someone posts something and u feel like criticizing rather than helping, dont waste your time. but thanks for wasting your time here. appreciate it. and a big thanks goes out to all you others who've added your constructive input. |

| For travelling in vacations KSA is the best. However for your purposes I would suggest Egypt or Syria, though don't expect to save any money. |

In 1991 I had an interview for a teaching job in Libya. I was flown to Dublin for the interview, first class on Aer Lingus. The interview took place in a hotel room on Grafton Street. One of the two interviewers spoke such bad English that I couldn't understand him. The other man assured me that Britain and Libya had good relations. I later found out that they had none at all. Some interesting ideas........now as my last posting on here I'd suggest Oman as being the most interesting of the Gulf countries - notice that I'm not including Egypt/Syria etc.
I probably had more Omani friends than I have had Bahraini or Emirati and we're still in touch several years down the line.
Well.....that's it from me - I'm headed off to Libya. Time to get out of the Gulf bubble. |
