I'm just saying it works and was a friendlier option than the high priced airfare back to the states.

Seems a bit strange to me; the Chinese consulate in your home country can easily discover you are in China. NCL is correct as well: when you leave they will see a Z visa without an entry stamp. Lastly, if everything is entered into a database, your file will contain a blaring contradiction.

Tonight I was at a reception with one of the leaders of the PSB who is responsible for the issuance and delivery of residence permits here in Eastern China. He is not a minor figure by any means. I raised the subject of what has been discussed here on Dave's by the previous poster and went into all of the details. He fairly blanched at what Luther has suggested. Indeed, as he said, something does not make sense.

And for Luther, when I pressed you on the matter, there was no need to resort to personal insults -- look, forgive me, but when you exit and if everything is in order in the PSB computers, it won't be me paying the fine and it won't be sitting somewhere while the Consulate tries to figure out a suitable explanation (if they would even intervene).

Sure it may work for a while -- but for a fact, when you renew your visa, someone will ask about the chop. And then your life will get very interesting, very quickly -- unless of course a clerk in the PSB comes across your file for some reason in a routine review that they do of the foreigners and notices something amiss.

Risky, truly risky, and forgive me, ill advised.
