Hi! I was offered a job at Aswan Language School in Dubai. I just got my Philippine passport. In the email sent to me, I was given the name and address of the person who is the authority in approving work visa and work permits for expats..I already sent him a copy of my passport. But I received an email that there have been many applicants so I have to wait for my turn.. Is this the procedure?
Anyone can help me? |

There is something very strange about this employer... starting on your other thread, things don't make sense. (such as you stated that they provided food and clothing?? that is unheard of for Language Schools)
No, this is not normal and I have never heard of such a thing for teachers. Your employer should handle all of this - arrange for the entry visa to start - and work visas and permits are only issued after you arrive in the country and follow the appropriate steps. (such as: go to government hospital and get blood tests)
I hope you have not sent these people any more money. I am again wondering if this is an actual employer or not. I don't think we had anyone turn up on the other thread who had ever heard of them, did we?

Thanks for the warning. No, I haven't sent them any monies..I've been duped once many times over when I was in the U.S.,that should be enough lesson for me..haha ha Anyhow, I've asked a friend who is now in Dubai to visit the address of the school herself...Thanks a lot!1 |

Hi, Veiled Sentiments:
Here is another odd thing. I received the forms from the Dubai Naturalization and ResidencyDepartment with the instructions that I am supposed to send the forms back to them with the fee of $385 to facilitate the processing!!!
Thanks to your information, I emailed to them that I will forward the information they gave to me to my would-be employer..
Wheww..this is scary..huh? But since I am back home, there is really no problem..I have no intention, unless the procedure follows the POEA procedure of my country. I can't leave my country's airport without the copy of the visa and the work contract authenticated by the Philippine Embassy/Consulate in Dubai..

Yes, please keep us updated. This employer sounds shady at best. You have good credentials and experience. You should not have to be paying out any money like this for a job in the Gulf. It is highly irregular.
It is good to have all the information here for future applicants.
