To anyone who is currently residing in Riyaadh:

I would like information regarding postal service.

Is it efficient?

What is the procedure and cost for rental of a post office box for the receipt of personal and business correspondence?

Is it better to send and/or receive packages via UPS, Federal Express or DHL? Are all three delivery services available?

Thanks.

A PO Box was 300 SR a year. You need an Iqama. The courier serbvices you mention all have services in KSA. Not always very good.

Recently Saudi Post have instituted a new system that claims to cover the kingdom with boxes. I reserve judgement on that. Most of the ones I have seen have already been vandalised.

I am fortunate in that my employer provides every employee with an individual PO Box, 200 meters from my front door.

Where and when is this comedy show (Postal Services in Riyadh) going to take place? I would like to attend.

I used Saudi Postal Service and was always happy with them [parcels to and fro, postcards and stamps];
There's a kind of ''ethnic'' air to dealing with them which I adore;
Also it is some 50% of Fedex/let-alone-DHL price when you dispatch to Europe, which always matters to me [ I mean the 50%];
All in all, no complaints at all and a picturesque experience pretty likely if you have acquired the taste;

Saudi postal service was cheap. It seemed to take a very long time to send/receive mail. I am not aware of any mail that went missing. I used DHL for urgent mail and it was expensive.

Well, in general, the postal service in the magic kingdom is OK.
To get your registered/recorded mails you need your Iqama and your signature.

As Uncle Scotty stated, you need to fill a form, plus SR300, your iqama, a photo, and your signature. Then, after 2-4 weeks you get a postal office Id card in which you can use for your PO Box mails and to get your registred/recorded mails. If you want, you can add two of your friends to your postal ID card, so that they can use your PO Box and have the same power as yours.

Be aware that the postal office in the magic kingdom opens any big/suspicious envelopes to check its content for any 'illegal/unwanted' items (such as political, religious, or sex stuff!), also any magazine or newspapers are checked as well.
I used to receive western magazines and newspapers with missing or torn pages. Sometimes the post office put a special big stamp on your envelope, which means the envelope has been opened and checked by the postal office (security services of Uncle Bandar!).

All are available.
I used FedEx and Mumtaz services, and I found them OK and cheap.
