Hi all,

Can anyone offer advice on how to go about looking for good furnished apartments in Riyadh? The best I have seen so far is from a friend who lives near exit 5, he has a new furnished 1-bedroom apartment (with split A/C) for SR30k/yr, but alas they are all taken.

I'm not interested in the Shuqqa Mafroosha places, but there do not seem to be many options.

Thanks

Unfortunately for short-term residents, furnished apartments are a rarity in Saudi cities. Almost all apartments are sold or rented completely unfurnished - which often means there are holes in the walls where the AC units should be! Unless your employer is providing you with a furnished apartment, you may have to live in a compound, or accept having to pay a large amount to furnish your home.

What you have to do is get an unfurnished apartment and furnish it. Your employer should have given you one months furniture allowance, but even so you will be out of pocket on your housing allowance for the first two years.
