Hi there...
Well here it is, the beginning of August and still waiting for the EDb. Supposedly my qualifications are still in the assessment stage and should be completed next week. I hope there's still time for me to get a PNET offer. Is anyone else in the same boat as me? Has anyone out there been offered a contract recently?
I have to wonder why the process is so slow and full of beuaracratic red tape. I taught in the JET Programme in Japan for 3 years and once a candidate passes the interview, he/she is guaranteed a teaching posisition as a JET teacher. I know the NET Scheme requires higher standards than the JET Programme, but beauracracy is the same wherever you go! I don't get why the EDb goes out of its way to make the process so slow and "inconvenient" (to put it nicely!) for prespective NETs.
Good luck everyone...hope we all win "the lottery"!!! |

I've signed a contract but not through waiting for the EDB, I sent out letters, emailed all schools and phoned to check they received my letter (I only phoned the one's I was most interested in). I also asked for the schools current NET's email addresses so I could ask questions and get honest answers. Some NET's didn't answer certain questions which I took as a bad sign and therefore scraped that school and looked elsewhere.
I signed up for the NET scheme last year and missed the 2007 intake as the EDB took so long, I was offered positions in Jan 08 but wanted to start when new pupils would also be starting so I decided to wait until this year and do the search myself. It was really time consuming but worth it I'm sure.
I had the option of signing with 2 schools in the end, I'm not sure if the other school is still looking for a NET but please PM me if you want their contact details. |

Hi...
I finally got an email from the EDb saying that my qualifications have been assessed and that my name will now go into the "pool" for schools to pick new NETs from. Hopefully there'll be time for me to get into a school for the 2008-2009 school year. Will keep y'all updated! |
