Has anyone read this article from the NY Times Magazine?:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/03/magazine/03trolls-t.html?ref=magazine
This is the only online forum I regularly frequent. It's a pretty amazing article though. Incredible (and scary) that people would act that way. We've had our share of people here looking for Lullz (Aristotle comes to mind), but it's nothing compared to what was described in the article. Posting harrassing online notes and then calling someone's parents to heckle them after their kid committed suicide!? I can't think of many worse things you could do.
Anyway, it's an interesting topic, especially where the future of internet security is concerned, ability to sue people for comments made online, etc.
Thoughts? |

Thanks for posting that link. Very informative, and a bit frightening. |

Er, that link has nothing whatsoever to do with Taiwan. However, it does lead to a sobering and thought-provoking article, from which I learned some things. We should all be thankful that no one has pulled such stunts on Dave's forums yet--maybe it says something good about us. |
