Is there a reason why you can't start in September? I would strongly recommend you apply for one of the positions that start in September. If the school couldn't get you a visa why are they paying Dave's to advertise?????

SAFEA licensed schools should have no problem providing you a visa for September.

Just be very sure you have a Z visa in hand before departure or things could become unpleasant.

Best of luck and hope to see you soon!

Most universities plus the public school system start the school year around the first of September. If you have the required paperwork then it shouldn't be a problem.

If you are only looking for university work: very few schools hire after the start of a semester and the relatively few who do are usually schools that couldn't offer anything of value for a teacher during peak season, are often located in undesirable locations, the FT they hired pulled a runner, or they were incompetent. It's a bad sign, generally speaking. Exceptions exist but are rare. Most of those unis are bad news.

The summer hiring period starts as early as May and can go well into the end of August for an August/September start. If you want to come in November I'd suggest waiting one or two months after that point. The spring hiring window opens around October and goes well into January (sometimes February) since the university Spring semester tends to start in February and March. The hiring pool is substantially smaller, since Universities like to hire by academic year (which starts in August/September). Still, there will be many schools who lost/fired/couldn't get FTs for the fall and they do hire mid-year. Some still ask for a year contract (Speaking from experience: I'd consider it a bad move since the number of lucrative opportunities greatly increases during the summer hiring periods) but I'd suggest bargaining for a six month contract. If you like the school and they like you it would be easy to renegotiate a contract for full academic year based upon your semester of service. It would also give you bargaining power because you will have more options.

If you are looking for university work exclusively and cannot get ducks in a row at this time but have time on your hands I'd recommend waiting until next year, or, if you want to come sooner rather than later: start looking for work in November, December and January and get a six month contract with a school that hires mid-year.

If you are willing to work in the unpleasant world of the buxiban system then there are job offers year 'round. It's a bit like playing Russian roulette and the best of luck to you. Some people find good work in that sector, but it is a craps shoot.

There are two possible answers to the OP's question.

Either the October and November jobs are to be found back in September; or they are in the private language mills that have a revolving door for teachers and students.

Many of the English training centers here in Suzhou hire teachers all year round. There is no semesters in the training centers and they pay better but you have to work longer.

Check out WEB English, or English First

Come on fellas, not only are these responses unhelpful, they totally throw off the search results.

If I search for information on this forum, I get a set of results. If see that one of these doesn't have a reply, i don't bother clicking on it. However i've found that a lot of time I end up clicking on a search result only to find some smartarse saying 'havent you heard of google' - not helpful and a waste of time.

As for the question itself, schools need teachers, why not contact them and ask if its possible to start later, i'm sure you'll find one who is willing to be flexible.

If you can start the first of October, you can get jobs at unis. All college freshman start their classes after the national holiday, the first four weeks is "military training" So many schools are happy to pocket the extra month and hire you to start in October. Don't wait until October to apply though. Obviously the worse the school (overall), the more likely they will do this. The best schools want everything in place to start the school year. The vast majority of schools are in the middle, and often still need a teacher
Language schools are available on a constant basis

This is extremely accurate information, particularly the bit about the worse the schools, et.c, etc. Just remember, however, if you end up in this kind of a school, it will be all downhill from there.
