Hello All

Other than JMA and the National Health Insurance Plan in Japan, are there any other insurance companies that cover health, dental and gynecologist visits?

I plan on buying a one year out of country insurance plan when I leave Canada however I was wondering of there is anything else in Japan other than the two mentioned above.

Thank you,

J

Medex and Global offer such plans. I don't know what they cover. Look here for more info.

Go with Medex. It's simple and reasonable. Do not go with the $1 a day coverage you can get in Canada because it assumes you are paying your premiums in Canada too. In addition, it doesn't cover you when you have been drinking.

If you go with Medex, and take a higher deductible, lowering the overall price, you're covered. If you really need to see the dentist and your deductible was high, just pay the dentist directly. I pay the dentist directly for a cleaning etc for 5000 yen. I just have the health insurance in case something big happens. My deductible is around 200 or 300 bucks if I remember right.

If you check the JMA policy you will find that their total liability is rather low.

Hello

Thanks for the posts.

Someone on an other forum said something about "Global health Care" in Japan. I can not find a website for them. Would anyone know where to find more information?

Thank you

Global Health seems to be the best deal going and they do cover dental.
