I've got 2 questions about commuter passes... specifically the Tokyo area.
Can you get one even on a travel visa?
Do you need an alien card to get one? |

I have a question too:
how much is a monthly commuter pass likely to set me back in a small city (60 000 people)? as far as I understand, the cost will ultimately be covered by the school that's employing me, but I'm drawing up a budget of what I'll need to spend for those first six weeks...
(and apparently my search-fu is weak today, so I'll happily accept links to threads or sites I may have failed to turn up) |

That depends entirely on the distance you will be travelling. Anything from 3,000 to 12,000 a month in a smaller city I would think. |

http://transit.yahoo.co.jp/
Toss in the locations, etc.
It'll give you a 1,3, and 6-month commuter pass figure. |
