I'm a US citizen and I need a criminal record for my next employment. I've tried asking the local police and they said i need to get it in Jakarta. Since i don't live in Jakarta, and hardly have any time or energy to go to Jakarta to get the paper, Does anybody know to get criminal record without going to Jakarta? |

I do believe that's the ONLY requirement to work at EF.

I'd suggest setting your neighbour's house on fire. It's convenient and creates a pleasant spectacle under the backdrop of a dark, moonless night. |

What are you applying for? Hitman, Gangster? I can't seem to work out this thread but it's amusing reading over my bacon and eggs this morning. |

Plant a bomb in a bar. Absolutely no chance of getting punished for that. |

Warranted jokes aside (pun intended), I assume you mean a criminal record check. In which case, the information you were given was baloney.
A friend that works for the Australian Federal Police here in Jakarta once explained that Indonesian authorities lack any data sharing policy between police networks. This lack of structured information sharing exists not only between regions, but smaller municipalities as well.
So, in effect there's no such thing as a criminal record check. This of course, doesn't mean that you can't get one. |

No good as he needs a criminal record. Try driving in Jakarta without a license and not paying the $2 on the spot bribe. |

In the UK they call it FULL CRIMINAL DISCLOSURE and you get it via the main/county police station where you live/were born, then get it sent out; it's a bit of a pain to organize and takes around 2-3 months . What they used to call 'spent convictions' i.e. misdemeanors that were removed from your record after 5 or 10 years must now be disclosed if you work with children, so that time you got rousted for smoking pot in high school may yet bite you in the ass. You have to list as many previous addresses as you can ( rumah hijau, jalan kecil ke lembang, dago atas Bandung) and the cops pretend they can check it, and then send you a paper telling you when you were in court and what for and then charge you ten pounds.
Across asia, post-Gadd, more countries will be wanting these , and lets face it, there have been a few shocking cases of known pedophiles getting jobs with kids in Asia, so why not? It SHOULDNT matter if you got busted for drunken conduct on your 18th birthday, but who knows how far individual schools or local police will take it. |
