Hi!
I was interviewed first by yahoo messenger then later by phone, from Canada-Philippines, for a K job in Shenzhen. I got the job after my phone interview. The Chinese Canadian English speaking interviewer told me that she was going to instruct the first lady who interviewed to begin the process of my work visa or Z visa. I waited for any more news. A week after, I was instructed to respond to a job offer letter they sent to me, which I never received, by post or by email. Anyhow, I responded that I never received that job offer letter and I anyway accept the job.

My concern is" What seems to be going on?" or "Is there something I need to know?"

This is my second time to teach in China. But I had an American director the first time, who I even met when she visited the Philippines before I left for China. I was comfortable with her. And she was OK, all throughout the 2 years I taught under her.

You need to wait for the invitation letter (original) to be sent by snail mail.

Tons of mail and emails get lost. I had real problems because of that, too. Just ask them for another letter to be sent registered direct to your home/work address where you have to sign when you get it. That's usually safer.

What is a job offer letter for? What will I do with it?
I remember that in 1998, the first time I taught in China, I only received 2 papers - one was a job contract and the other one is the one with something Z visa on it. They were all in Chinese so I could hardly remember what those papers contained..

The next email I received was I had to respond immediately because it would take 1 month to have all my papers processed in Shenzhen..

Please update me on what I would do with a job offer letter??? Thanks..

The school should offer you an invitation letter (issued by Bureau of Commerce) as well as a WORK PERMIT (issued by Labor Bureau) for you to apply for Z visa in Chinese Embassy in Canada. You also need a medical for your resident visa later.

Thanks to this forum, I've d/l a physical information for for foreign workers from an office in China. I will bring this form to the gov't hospital and have all the executive check ups..

I understand from my readings in this forum that some Chinese Embassy/Consulate require medical and others don't..correct?

Reading your thread carefully, I can't quite determine in what country you will be applying for the "Z" visa. Might you let us know?

As Arioch36 points out, in the U.S., at least until now, a medical examination is not required for the issuance of the "Z" visa. Please remember, however, that if you have any problems which cause the Chinese medical authorities "concern", well, you may or will have problems here.

If there are free or very-low cost clinics where you are that will do a blood scan (for STDs, AIDS, etc, etc.,) and if you have access to the one of the low-cost clinics that do routine TB scans, you might wish to consider this. Just a thought, however.

Sorry. Since you are asking, I might as well tell everything about me? I am from the Philippines but I got my MA in Ed from the U.S.. I am also certified in NY and has taught in NYC day care centers for 6 1/2 years..

I am in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, right now. I will be applying for my z visa at the Chinese Consulate in Cebu City, where there are not very many applicants. One does not even have to line up. Cebu City is just 45 minutes plane ride away from where I am now or an overnight boat ride away from where I am now..

I am just fidgeting . I always feel like this when I get out of my comfort zone. The email said that it would take my employer 6 weeks to process their work "petition" for me. So I would be fidgeting until the letter comes!

I don't know why I want to teach outside of the Philippines again. I am already 57 years old. For nothing to do at night, I applied from the China job site. I got an email asking for phone interview. Previous to this, I was also offered a job in Dubai, but turned out to be fake as per information I got this job discussion forums..

I visited my niece and nephew in Wuhan in April and I remember now that I read at the Chinese Consulate that we do need to submit a medical certificate..In any case, it is a requirement of our own Philippine government to require all OFWs (Overseas Filipino Workers) to undergo an executive check up plus a medical insurance based in the Philippines to be able to avail of tax privileges..Medical check from a government hospital here is only around $10-20.

Hi, Guys:
Ok..I received from email the following documents, filled it up and sent them back..:

1. letter of job offer
2. letter of job acceptane
3. job contract
4. foreign expert application form..

I accomplished all the spaces that I needed to fill up, affixed my signatures and sent them all back. Now. my question is:

Would the Chinese authorities accept email copies? or I would have to send by DHL the original copies of the above?

I am a little unclear on this, maybe I missed something? Don't you need the original work permit and letter of invitation when you apply for your Z visa?

Also, in my case at least, the consulate in Chicago did require the medical.

All these in original and one copy.

I got the visa the same day, of course, but they were fairly meticulous about documents.

Just something to help you lose sleep! Good luck, I am sure it will go smoothly...

(Also to get the FEC you will need to be in China, with medical clearance, temporary registration, etc., in hand. In my experience here in Beijing at least...)

I believe the documents I received and sent back were the documents that are needed by employers to apply for Z visa for their foreign teachers, and in this case, Me!

I was also advised and I did - to email to them copies of my diplomas,copy of my passport with the picture and details on them and I even included blank pages as I read about this need somehwere, copy of my 2x2 passport pic.

Is this picture clearer now? Oh, please..help me think...thanks..
