Hi all

Could anyone advise me where I can go in D.F that offers reasonable prices for flights to the UK? (travel agents) I don't plan on returning, would a return or one way ticket be cheaper?

forgot to mention that I'm looking to return between 19th Oct and 19th Nov, I'm flexible just looking for a good price. Oh and I'm flying to Manchester (don't know if this will make it cheaper or more expensive)

speaking from my own experience ... I've flown out of Mexico to the Uk 3 times so far ... The most convenient route is Mex City - London operated by British Airways ... convenient price. Any trourist agency can book you a flight through BA. Alternatively, you can aslo check KLM, again reasonable price, yet, you'll have to stop over in Amsterdam. If you can book on line, expedia.com also offers great deals really. Although, flying through the USA is slightly less expensive.

Just to say, flying to Europe is !?**!%& expensive right now, with the strength of the pound and euro, and the fuel costs. Don't expect any bargains. It is usually cheaper to fly KLM (Amsterdam), Air France (Paris), Lufthansa (Frankfurt) or Iberia (Madrid) and then get the connection with the same airline. This would give you the advantage too of being able to do a visit to one of these cities at no extra cost (hotels apart!).

It would be worth looking into British Airways' Friends and Family scheme. If you know anyone who works for BA, then they can get you a discounted ticket on normal flights. My parents did just that recently and got a whopping �500 off each ticket for a LON - MEX return over Christmas

Thank you all for your replies.
Sorry for taking so long to get back but I've found a GREAT deal!! Actually to good to be true kind of deal.

After extensive research and hours googling the same thing over and over again in hope that prices would decrease miraculously I came across a life saving website. www.moneysavingexpert.com

As I was browsing this very informative web page, I went on the travel section to see what I could find, lo and behold I found a link for www.skyscanner.net.

I found a one way flight for two people from Cancun to Manchester(UK) for �500 ( The flights are booked with two separate airlines and paid for separately too). I'm flying from Cancun to New York (JFK) on Jet Blue airline and with Aer Lingus from JFK to Dublin and then to Manchester (the latter includes the connection at Dublin, I mean its the same ticket, JFK-DUB-MAN).

Okay, there are 3 changeovers and a 4 hour wait in NY plus a 2 hour one in Dublin. Possibly not the easiest way of getting home, if I had the money I'd rather go "the easiest way" but fact is I don't. However I'm still saving a considerable amount, that's going off the prices I've been quoted by various travel agencies.

Although I'm glad to have found something within my budget I'm a bit worried about having two different flight tickets, I mean I paid for them separately and have two different booking references.
I have a one-way ticket to New York!! Will this be a problem being a NON US Citizen although I have proof of an ongoing flight scheduled for the same day? Is immigration likely to start a fuss, either at Cancun airport or at JFK?

Oh and is anyone interested in buying any furniture? sofa bed, fridge, books, tables, arm chairs etc. The stuff I have in my flat is all 5 months max, bought new and will be sold dirt cheap. I�m leaving to Cancun in a couple of weeks. PM me if you�re interested

Don't forget to check for baggage charges. Some flights charge US $25 to $50 for one or two checked bags. You might want to bring some snacks as well. They are charging for food, too. Those "extras" which used to be provided free can make it seem like less of a deal if you get stuck paying for them.

I couldn't say for sure, but if you're from the UK and have an onward ticket, I would certainly hope not! I've never heard about anyone in your circumstances having a problem. You could check th INS website to be sure of the regulations, though. While in the US it's always good to be able to say "I know my rights!"

Anyone entering the US even to change flights has to go through immigration inspection and customs and have the proper documentation to do so. However, you have it easier!

UK citizens are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program (http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/temp/without/without_1990.html) entering the US. This means you basically need nothing but a valid passport and a promise you're not staying more than 90 days (obviously not a problem if you're just transferring flights). So the JFK connection shouldn't be a problem at all. Good luck!

500 GBP is about $10000. I can't help thinking all that travelling just to save $1000 is a bit much! Plus the cost of getting to Canc�n!

But thanks for going to see my wife anyway! And commissions on air tickets are terrible...usually 1% on the pretax price with major airlines.

thats $10,000 for two tickets or $5,000 mx per person. Savings of 12,000mx pesos and not $1,000. Most agencies quoted $11,500 mx per person.
