Do any schools fly a teacher into Taiwan either at no cost to the teacher or deducting the airfare from the pay?
Do schools provide an apartment?
Are there restrictions on having private students like in Korea?
Can you make enough money to trvel around Asia on free time (ex. Phuket) and to fly on to Europe or North America when finished working?
Thanks. |

I think HESS does, but generally the answer is no.

Again, the answer is generally no, and if it is yes the accommodations are usually not that great.

Yes. Privates are technically illegal. That doesn't mean they aren't common.

Yes. Assuming travel prices stay the same, and salaries don't change too much.

The Taiwanese uni that I worked for reimbursed me for my airfare after I arrived. It also helped me with locating an apt. I believe that's as good as it gets in Taiwan. I should add that I went on quite a trip after my years on that island, and that I saved enough to live on until my next job. |

Getting a uni to pay airfare is far more the exception than the rule - Englishmaster you obviously did well on that score! The only other times I have come across stories of foreigners being paid airfares to work at Taiwanese universities are newly promoted institutions who are desperate to get a few token foreigners on their books. |
