Hey, I've been here for 6 months now...living in Dalian. You should have no problem picking and choosing a good school/deal. So few FTs over here cause of the visa restrictions of late...a lot of schools are going crazy trying to find good FTs.

Let me know how it all turns out or if you want to move to Dalian...I could put in a good word for you at my school.

Cheers.

We have had that type of backpacker, permanent vacationer, slimeball since EFL began in 1879.

I think this generalisation goes a wee bit too far back. At that time educators would have been perceived as worthy individuals and perhaps those who chose to educate did so because they had a true desire to do so - how old is the 'those who can do and those who can't ...' saying?

I'm probably wrong, but backpackers and permanent vacationers teaching to earn a short-term crust is probably a relatively new phenomenon ... in some ways. Cheap travel has enabled many to hit the road they otherwise would not have and this in conjunction with a thick hide, a need to put the head somewhere and little care for any sense of professionalism has probably assisted the growth.

"Slimeballs"? Well, what can we say?
